About Her
I believe that relationships grow from friendship and mutual caring. I like people but take time to develop trust. Once this happens, however, I am loyal and stand by my friends through thick and thin.
I am "allergic" to stupidity and value intellect - I have just retired from a lecturer position, teaching philosophy. However, I also relate well emotionally as I am sensitive and empathetic, a natural teacher and facilitator.
I am attracted by the personality as a whole which means I'd like to read your narrative, as well as see your "more about me" section filled in, see your photo, and, if we click after the initial emails, meet rather soon. If you 'favourite' me or message me and your profile is incomplete, missing these parts, I will not respond.
I used to be quite fit but have let myself go down a bit. I have recently taken up more physical activities to get back into shape. I like the gym, walking/hiking, cycling, and swimming. I have a "score to settle" with the Midmar Mile and would like to swim it at some stage. I used to do horse-riding and I still have the love for horses. I would like to do some of these again, with the right partner offering encouragement and companionship. Other things that take my time are still my research (I am completing my PhD and still writing research papers), photography, and trying to master the game of bridge - the latter a losing battle so far!
I am not a door-mat but I accept leadership if it comes from someone who has gained my trust and respect. I can be assertive (not aggressive - not the same!) but I am also tolerant. Thus, I do not believe in fitting into a "mould". So, being able to change a light bulb makes me no less of a woman ;). Likewise, being able to wash dishes does not make you less of a man ;). BTW, I can do both, if need be. For now, I am looking mainly for an activity partner, but... best to start chatting and to meet. This is really how people click.
